On the evening of 26 April 2024, SCIC hosted its Annual Dinner and Responsible Care Awards presentation at Shangri-La Hotel Singapore. This event saw a turnout of approximately 270 guests, marking another successful year for the chemical industry in Singapore.
The evening was graced by Senior Minister of State, Dr Amy Khor, Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, Ministry of Transport. SMS speech can be found here.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Responsible Care Awards, a tradition that acknowledges the commitment and dedication of signatory companies towards improving their performances in Health, Safety, Environment and Security. This year, a total of 111 awards were presented to 38 deserving companies, showcasing their outstanding achievements in fostering sustainable practices and ensuring the well-being of both employees and the community. In the welcome speech, Mr Henri Nejade, Chairman of SCIC, highlighted on the incorporation of additional ‘health element’ to drive improvement in managing the physical and mental well-being in workplaces. Members can look forward to participate in upcoming sharing sessions where we can learn from each other and exchange good practices to enhance our performance in this aspect. To support our Process, Construction and Maintenance (PCM) partners in demonstrating the same level of commitment to HSES standards, a comprehensive set of guidelines has been curated and will be piloted with our PCM partners this year.
SCIC will continue to strive together with the RC Committee and industry stakeholders in pushing the efforts of Responsible Care.
