Enabling safe and effective UAS deployment in oil, gas, and chemical industries - Sharing of Singapore TR 138 on Use of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) for oil, gas, chemical and industrial processing facilities, and related pipeline corridors
The capabilities of UAS have progressed in recent years, with increasing deployment for facility surveillance and inspection, especially at large-scale or high-risk sites. While the use of UAS relieves humans from undertaking risks associated with these tasks, it introduces new risks and challenges.
Oil, gas, chemical, and industrial processing sites, and related pipeline corridors have specific traits and operational requirements. There is a need to bridge the gap between this set of requirements and those for UAS operations, so that site operators and UAS operators can understand the specific needs and challenges faced by both parties.
Through dynamic presentations and panel discussions, participants will gain valuable insights into the unique operational requirements of these industrial settings and the distinct challenges of UAS integration. The session will address the need for aligning UAS operations with site-specific safety protocols, bridging critical gaps in understanding between site operators and UAS service providers.
