Chemical Standards Exchange – “Safety Standards in Chemical Industry”  and  Launch of new Code of Practice for Fire Safety for Laboratories using Chemicals

 

Chemical Standards Exchange is an annual flagship seminar organized by the Chemical Standards Committee to highlight the importance of Singapore Standards in promoting health, safety, environment, productivity and sustainability in the chemical industry.

 

As the theme for 2019 focuses on safety, this seminar will also include the launch of the new SSingapore Standard on Code of Practice for Fire Safety for Laboratories using Chemicals. Of particular interest to the industry, this standard will encompass laboratory unit design and construction, fire protection, explosion hazard protection, ventilating system requirements as well as the storage, handling and disposal of flammable and toxic chemicals.

Highlights of this new standard will be presented by the Working Group experts who developed this standard. SCDF will be using this new standard as a conformance reference for fire safety in the Singapore Fire Code.
