As part of a series to encourage greater participation of young professionals in standards work, the Young Professional Induction Workshop was organised by SDO@SCIC, jointly with Enterprise Singapore, and SMF@SDO on 21 Nov 2019.
The workshop focusses on how Singapore Standards are created and drafted to ensure robustness and clarity in the recommendations or requirements set out in the standards. Guidelines on standards drafting process and good practices in drafting standards were shared with the young professionals. The attendees also had a first-hand experience to participate in the interactive quizzes to demonstrate understanding of the information gathered through the earlier sharing.
Key standards work in three different sectors (Chemicals, Quality & Safety and Manufacturing) and the benefits of standards participation were shared by the various Standards Committee Chairmen to inspire interest in standards development work. The workshop has provided good networking opportunity and to induct potential young professionals into the Singapore Standardisation Programme.
