LNG is increasingly being adopted as an alternative cleaner fuel solution within Southeast Asia and the development of LNG infrastructure and capabilities in Singapore has never been more important than now.
A first of its kind in the region, Technical Reference (TR) 74 aims to establish baseline knowledge and competency in the storage, land transportation and handling of LNG, while taking into consideration of its safety, health and environmental aspects of the inherent hazard and risk relating to the handling of LNG.
The inaugural launch of TR 74 on 4 Sep 2020, which was well-received by more than 120 participants, presented an overview of LNG safe handling practices that are applicable in Singapore’s land-scarce environment.
MOM will use this standard in the assessment of work practices related to LNG handling and storage. SCDF will also refer to this new standard for the approval of fire safety plan submission and license application for organisations that are involved in LNG land operations.
