Aligned to WSH 2028 Strategies, the inter-relationship between safety and health of employees has to be reinforced as an integrated approach in addressing work, safety and health.
As part of our continued efforts to build industry capacity and capability in safety performance, SCIC has collaborated with the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) to introduce a customised series on Human Factors in safety programmes for the chemical industry.
Held on 11 to 12 November 2020, the training workshop on “Enhancing the Health Environment at Workplaces” is part of a training series with the objective to enhance participants’ knowledge on the concept of Human-Machine-Environment relationship in the system design principles. This will equip them with the necessary skills-set to evaluate and identify the related health risks and hazards in their respective workplace environment.
Case studies and numerous group discussions were incorporated during the 2-day training to allow participants to apply the concepts to practical approaches for implementation at workplaces.
SCIC will be organising a few more sessions of this training workshop in 2021. Members may also keep a lookout for the following training workshops in this series of customised training on Human Factors in safety programmes for the chemical industry:
- Developing an Effective Fatigue Management Programme
- Human Factors in Accident Investigation
The training has also been awarded 16 SDU points under the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme for registered Workplace Safety & Health officers. For more information on the upcoming sessions, please email SCIC at
