Aligned to WSH 2028 Strategies, the the interrelationship between the safety and health of employees has to be reinforced as an integrated approach in addressing work, safety and health.
As part of continued efforts to build industry capacity and capability in their safety performances, SCIC has collaborated with the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) to introduce a series of customised training on Human Factors in safety programmes for the chemical industry.
The second workshop of the training series on “Developing an Effective Fatigue Management Programme” was held on 4 to 5 Feb 2021. The key learnings from the 2-days training of the participants included:
- Fundamental theoretical knowledge on understanding sleep cycle and disorders as well as the impact of fatigue to human performance and safety
- Practical know-hows through the application of different measures and tests in fatigue assessment, implementation of various strategies in managing fatigue risks and evaluation of appropriate shift work strategies to support the implementation of a fatigue management programme.
SCIC will be organising a few more sessions of this training workshop in 2021. Members may also keep a lookout on this series of customised training on Human Factors in safety programmes for the chemical industry:
