On 19 Oct 2019, more than 600 tertiary students from the chemical-related courses in the various Institutes of Higher Learning visited Jurong Island – “The Petrochemical Hub of Singapore” as part of ChemEx, an annual exclusive industry profiling event. The event provided students with a preview of the chemical industry through the engaging plant visit hosted by member companies and the interactive booths at Oasis@Sakra.
This year’s ChemEx also included a tour of the newly renovated Jurong Island Gallery for students from the Polytechnics and Institute of Technical Education, while University students enjoyed a tour of the Institute of Chemical & Engineering Sciences.
Through the collaborative efforts of the member companies, the students gained a better understanding on the chemical industry as well as the career opportunities and progression offered by the different chemical companies.
