As part of the continued outreach efforts by the SCIC Emerging Regulations Working Group in fostering closer relationships with the chemical industry and regulators in our neighbouring countries, Ms Cissie Yeung and Ms Caroline Li represented SCIC in a SAHTECH seminar hosted by Taiwan on 22 October 2018 which was participated by more than 70 delegates from the local chemical industry, TCIA (Taiwan Chemical Industry) and regulators of chemical managements.
SCIC is pleased to be invited by SAHTECH, on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industrial Development. In line with our continuous cooperation and exchange in APEC Chemical Dialogue and international events, SCIC representatives presented an update on the regulatory developments in ASEAN region as well as the initiatives undertaken by SCIC Emerging Regulations Working Group.
Such networking provided excellent opportunities on mutual exchange of experiences and good practices sharing on implementation of chemical management regulations in this region with the Taiwan regulators and industry members. The seminar also allowed us to have better understanding on regulatory approach on chemical management in Taiwan in which the SCIC Emerging Regulations Working Group members are monitoring closely for any regulatory developmental updates. This will help us to take the lead in driving advocacy efforts on regulatory co-operation and alignment in the Asia Pacific regions that may have an impact to our members that have business dealings in these countries.
