Series of ASEAN Regulatory Co-operation Platform (ARCP) Mini Webinars 2025

The ASEAN Regulatory Co-operation Platform (ARCP) continues its commitment to fostering regional dialogue and capacity building in chemical management through its regular mini-webinars. These sessions bring together regulators and industry stakeholders from ASEAN Member States (AMS) to share insights, discuss regulatory developments, and promote alignment in chemical safety practices.

The second mini webinar for 2025 was held on 28 August, drawing about 85 participations from across the AMS. The session featured a series of expert presentations on key regulatory topics impacting the chemical industry as follows:

  • Nino Papukashvili, Regulatory Advocacy Manager Europe, Shell Deutschland GmbH, provided an overview of the EU CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging) Regulation Revision. The presentation covered the European Commission’s latest proposal under the Sixth Omnibus Simplification Package, aimed at reducing regulatory complexity and enhancing efficiency. Delegates gained insights into the strategic goals of the Chemicals Industry Action Plan including competitiveness, sustainability, and regulatory modernisation under the European Green Deal.
  • Reinout de Kroon, Product Stewardship Regulatory Manager, Shell Global Solutions International B.V., shared updates on the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). With the first international companies having reported for 2024, the EU is now working to simplify the standards and reduce the scope of impacted companies. The session highlighted how these changes align with broader efforts to reduce regulatory burdens and support competitiveness.
  • Bjoern Hiddingintroduced the ICCA Plastics Additive Database, a resource aimed at improving transparency and understanding of additives used in plastic products. The presentation provided a preview of the database’s objectives and its potential role in supporting regulatory compliance and product stewardship.

The ARCP organising committee extends its appreciation to all speakers and participants for their contributions. These exchanges are key enablers in building a cohesive and informed regional approach to chemical safety and regulatory convergence.

Launched in 2021, the ARCP mini-webinars have garnered significant positive feedback from participating delegates. With the continued support and collaboration of industry stakeholders and regulators in the AMS, the ARCP will remain a key driver in the chemical industry's pursuit of achieving regulatory cooperation and convergence in the ASEAN region.
