The ARCP organizes regular mini-webinars as part of its ongoing efforts to build capacity and strengthen knowledge in chemical management across the region. These webinars are attended by participants including regulators and industry representatives involved in chemical safety and compliance. By fostering dialogue and knowledge-sharing among key stakeholders, these sharing sessions enable the promotion of regulatory cooperation and alignment among ASEAN Member States (AMS).
The first mini webinar for 2025 was held on 23 May, which was well attended by around 100 delegates from the AMS. The following topics were shared during the webinar:
- Marlly Guarin, Animal Welfare Lead, Product Stewardship, Safety, Environment and Asset Mngmt (PTS) of Shell Global Solutions International BV – shared insights with the delegates into ethical animal testing practices, focusing on animal welfare and adherence to strict standards. It covered aspects of advocacy efforts to prevent duplicative testing through collaboration, data sharing and advanced technologies.
- Dunja Drmač, Senior Manager Chemicals Legislation (REACH), Product Stewardship of European Chemical Industry Council – shared the ongoing efforts to simplify REACH regulations while balancing the need for robust health and environmental protections. The sharing on industry expectations for reducing administrative complexity, fostering innovation and streamlining compliance processes was much insightful for the delegates.
The ARCP organising committee would like to thank both the speakers, Dr. Marlly Guarin and Ms. Dunja Drmač for their support in sharing valuable insights on these regulatory developments and practical challenges. This has helped to foster collaboration and mutual learning among regulators and industry stakeholders. Such exchanges are instrumental in building a more informed and cohesive regional approach to chemical safety and regulatory convergence within the ASEAN community.
Launched in 2021, the ARCP mini-webinars have garnered significant positive feedback from participating delegates. With the continued support and collaboration of industry stakeholders and regulators in the AMS, the ARCP will remain a key driver in the chemical industry's pursuit of achieving regulatory cooperation and convergence in the ASEAN region.
