SCIC organised the Responsible Care (RC) 2021 Awards Presentation ceremony on 6th April, 2022. The annual RC awards presentation is conducted to recognise the commitment of RC signatory companies in contributing to improve their performances in the four pillars of Health, Safety, Environment and Security. RC is the global initiative that was created with the goal of driving occupational health and environmental performance, enhance safety in operations and products, and strengthen communication with respective stakeholders. SCIC had adopted the RC Programme in 1990, with this year marking the 32nd anniversary of the adoption.
The event commenced with Mr Henri Nejade, Chairman of SCIC, providing the welcome remarks. Minister Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment followed-up with a speech of her own, suggesting new areas of development for SCIC’s consideration and discussed the current landscape of the chemical industry. Mr Henri Nejade and Minister Fu then proceeded to present the awards to the respective recipients. The Leadership Awards were presented to companies that continued outstanding performance in the Responsible Care programme and maintained the Excellence performances for three consecutive years for all relevant codes applicable to their nature of business operations.

The Gold, Excellence and Achievement awards were then presented to the respective companies.
Mr Seah Khen Hee was then awarded the SCIC Recognition Award. The award acknowledged his significant contribution through his leadership in the standards review and development under the Technical Committee (TC) for Bunkering as the Chairman since 1992 and his continued support to the Standards Development Organisation (SDO) @ SCIC since 2011.
SCIC would like to congratulate all the recipients and appreciate their enormous efforts in working together with the relevant stakeholders to drive best practices of Responsible Care and stability of the chemical sector. As chemical industry stays relevant in providing essentials such as energy and other necessities including medicine and packaging materials, the support of the RC committee is constantly required to raise the standards and enhance the performance of the chemical sector to ensure continued supply of the necessary products.
