A webinar session on the sharing of industry’s practices in the safe management of chemicals was organised on 13 September 2021 for the Singapore Police Force. As the authority regulating explosives and its precursors (EPs), the session aims to enhance the safety knowledge related to handling and managing of chemicals for the officers from the Police Licensing and Regulatory Department.
An overview on the Management of Hazardous Chemicals Programme (MHCP) was shared with the officers in which they were provided greater insights to the 13 elements of MHCP including hazard communications, risk assessment and control, storage and transportation, emergency response etc.
The chemical industry’s self-regulatory approach and practices through the Responsible Care programme was also shared during the session. Additional information on process safety and the requirements of safety case regime were included as part of knowledge sharing.
