SCIC held its 14th Annual General Meeting (AGM) as an electronic session on 29 June 2021. The meeting was chaired by SCIC Chairman, Mr Wim Roels who welcomed members present with his opening remarks.

The summary on the key activities and accomplishments of SCIC in 2020 were also highlighted during the session before the meeting proceeded with the AGM proper. Despite the challenges in 2020, the SCIC Secretariat office has managed to continue its efforts in supporting members under the new normal operating landscape.

To help resolve unprecedented challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic, several new industry groups were initiated in 2020 to address different advocacy issues in supporting members’ needs to enable continuation of business operations in a safe environment. New training courses and initiatives were also introduced to continue efforts in building industry capacities & capabilities in health, environment, safety & security performances.

In addition to the Chemicals Standards Committee, the SDO@SCIC also took on the role in managing the management of the Environment and Resources Standards Committee (ERSC) in April 2020. It focused on spearheading the development and adoption of standards to address sustainable development. These are closely linked and relevant to the chemical industry.

Thereafter, the following proposals were supported and endorsed through voting of members who have submitted through appointment of SCIC Chairman as proxy:

  • Financial report for FY ending 31 Dec 2020
  • Re-appointment of Messrs AC Alliances (PAC) as company auditor for FY 21

In closing, Mr Roels thanked members for their attendance and support.
