SCIC Annual Dinner 2025 and Responsible Care Awards 2024 Presentation - Celebrating 35 years of Responsible Care in Singapore

On the evening of 10 April 2025, SCIC hosted its Annual Dinner and Responsible Care Awards presentation at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore. With close to 400 guests in attendance, the evening is not just a celebration of continued improvement in health, safety, environment and security (HSES) performance but also a key milestone – 35 years of Responsible Care in Singapore.

Gracing the occasion was Minister of State, Mr Alvin Tan, Ministry of Trade and Ministry of Culture, Community & Youth, who shared a compelling address. MOS speech can be found here.

A key highlight of the evening was the Responsible Care Awards Presentation, a long-standing tradition honouring the commitment of signatory companies to continuous improvement in HSSE. This year, a remarkable 92 awards were presented to 32 outstanding companies, celebrating their role in promoting sustainability and well-being of communities. The list of awards recipients can be found here.

In his Welcome Address, Mr Jean Van Praet, SCIC Board Director and Board Sponsor of the SCIC Responsible Care Committee, acknowledged both the challenges and the opportunities faced by the industry. Highlighting the vital role of Process, Construction and Maintenance (PCM) partners, Mr Van Praet shared SCIC’s commitment to scale the Responsible Care guidelines across the wider PCM community – reinforcing the sector’s shared responsibility in upholding HSES standards.

Moving forward, SCIC is preparing to launch a series of programmes that will bring together members, the public and PCM partners, continuing the journey of Responsible Care and towards sustainability.

In a heartfelt celebration and in alignment with the theme ‘Uniting for a Sustainable Future’, SCIC spotlighted the power of inclusivity by inviting the inspiring ParaBeatz Band to perform. The group features two keyboardists with physical disabilities, a third keyboardist with visual impairment, a lead guitarist with a physical disability and a bassist who is visually impaired. Their performance was a moving tribute to the strength found in diversity, echoing SCIC’s commitment to build a future where every individual is valued and uplifted.
