About Responsible Care® Programme
Responsible Care® programme is the chemical industry’s global initiative to address issues concerning Health, Safety, Environment & Security (HSES) and to promote continuous improvement in these areas.
SCIC adopted Responsible Care in 1990 and continues to actively lead the chemical industry in achieving Responsible Care initiatives. Responsible Care programme advocates the Chemical Industry to be proactive in taking greater ownership and going beyond regulatory stipulations on managing our HSES performances. Through Responsible Care®, the chemical industry in Singapore can make a valuable contribution to the sustainable development and improvement of lives and the environment.
The SCIC Responsible Care® Awards was launched in 2001 to recognise the efforts of companies who have committed to practice and implement the Responsible Care® Codes of Management Practices.
Each year, the submission of the Responsible Care’s self-evaluation by the Responsible Care® signatory companies would be reviewed by a panel of judges comprising representatives from the industry as well as statutory agencies of the Ministry of Manpower, National Environment Agency and the Singapore Civil Defence.
The SCIC Responsible Care Awards 2018 marks the eighteenth’s year of the awards’ inception and is proudly co-sponsored by Asahi Kasei Synthetic Rubber Singapore Pte Ltd and Chevron Oronite Pte Ltd.
