Standards play an important role in facilitating the application of emerging technologies, the creation of new markets and the growth of existing markets. Akin to how SS 345 “Specification for algae resistant emulsion paint for decorative purposes” was first introduced in 1990 to address algae build-up in buildings, Fine Bubble Technology (FBT) possess the potential to meet our industry's needs through Standards.
On 30 Aug 2022, Singapore Chemical Industry Council (SCIC) in collaboration with Fine Bubble Industries of Japan (FBIA), had co-organised the 2nd FBT Symposium in Singapore. Strongly welcomed by 44 local and 63 international participants, this event serves to promote and encourage adoption of FBT applications in water treatment, agro and aqua farming.
Our participants had gained a greater appreciation of how FBT generation equipment can be set up to realise its innate benefits. One example would be Aquaculture Innovation Centre’s attempt at utilising FB to facilitate waterless shipping of live shrimps. This is made possible by using FB to reduce the environment stress of transporting “live” seafood without water. This in turn translates to savings in transportation cost, which is determined by cargo weight.
With an increase in FBT applications, this will pave the way for Standards to facilitate further growth and productivity of industries located within and beyond Singapore’s shores. For more information on the seminar held, refer to https://scic.sg/index.php/en/component/rseventspro/event/385
