Held at Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) 2026, this seminar on 23 April 2026 brought together industry experts and stakeholders to exchange insights on advancing safe and scalable ammonia bunkering.
Organised by the Singapore Chemical Industry Council – Standards Development Organisation (SDO@SCIC) and Enterprise Singapore, the event featured a sharing of Singapore’s Technical Reference on ammonia bunkering by standards partners from the Technical Committee for Bunkering (Cryogenic and Gaseous Fuels) and its working groups.
Key highlights from the programme:
• Overview of alternative fuels bunkering developments in Singapore
• Standards development to support the future of a greener maritime industry
• Best practices for ammonia bunkering, including custody transfer, safety procedures, and competency requirements
• Industry experiences from ammonia bunkering trials and safety studies
The panel discussion engaged the audience in the exploration of critical questions shaping the future of ammonia bunkering, including operational readiness beyond pilot projects, defining safe real-world operations, barriers to commercial scale, and the risks and opportunities of early adopters and late movers.
