Since 2012, SCIC has continuously engaged members of the public, an important stakeholder group for the chemical industry.
Hosted by member companies, participants from the C2E (Community Emergency & Engagement) Committee Members and CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Members from the south-west, north-east, north-west and central districts visited Jurong Island – “The Petrochemical Hub of Singapore” on 15 June 2019.
The visit provided them an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the various chemical industry operations through the interactive session and site tours at the chemical plants. Topics of public concern such as flaring system and plastic waste management was also shared.
The community outreach was well-received by the participants and SCIC would like to thank Eastman Chemical Singapore, Evonik Oil Additives and ExxonMobil Chemical Asia Pacific for their support as the site hosts.
As part of the Responsible Care initiatives on the Community Awareness & Emergency Response Code, SCIC will continue these outreach efforts and we welcome the support of signatory companies’ in future sessions.
