“Clear Shores, Clean Waters” Campaign 2022 - SCIC Beach Clean-up

SCIC first initiated the chemical industry’s “Clear Shores, Clean Waters” campaign in 2019, where industry members pull our weight (#pullingourweight) to end plastic waste (#endplasticwaste) together, demonstrating our commitment to help enhance greater awareness among all stakeholders on the responsible use of plastics and the management of plastic waste.

Building upon the chemical industry’s efforts through the “Clear Shores, Clean Waters” campaign, the Industry Beach Clean-Up Movement was initiated in April 2022 after a 2-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Every effort counts as the industry continued its support of the campaign through individual collective clean-up efforts by the chemical companies.

SCIC organised the culminating Beach Clean-up on 18 Nov 2022 at Pasir Ris Park, and was attended by more than 100 participants including industry representatives and the extended stakeholders such as government agencies, students and members of the public.

The event showcased exhibits by the championing companies at the marquee area to enhance the information sharing with the participants on the chemical industry efforts and initiatives on waste management that will help close the circular economy loop for Singapore.

SCIC would like to thank the following member companies for sponsoring as champions as well as the support from Mitsubishi Chemical Methacrylates Singapore at the beach clean-up:

  • Air Liquide Singapore
  • BASF South East Asia
  • Borouge
  • Chevron Phillips Chemical
  • ExxonMobil Asia Pacific
  • Integra Petrochemicals
  • The Polyolefin Company (Singapore)
