Asia Petrochemical Industry Conference (APIC 2023) Marks a Return to Physical Gatherings in New Delhi, India

The Asia Petrochemical Industry Conference (APIC) has finally resumed after a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the global economy gradually recovering, APIC 2023 took place in New Delhi, India, on 18-19 May 2023. Hosted by the Chemicals & Petrochemicals Manufacturers' Association (CPMA) India, the conference attracted nearly 1000 participants, fostering valuable discussions, professional networking, and international collaborations.

Day 1: Chemical Marketing Seminar Emphasizes Sustainability

The first day of APIC 2023 commenced with a series of chemical marketing seminars. Esteemed consulting firms in the petrochemical industry, including S&P Global, ICIS, Argus, Nexant ECA, and the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, provided delegates with insights into the current state of the world economy, an overview of the petrochemical industry, and analysis of major outstanding issues. Notably, the speakers underlined the pressing need for sustainability and advocated for the adoption of a circular economy approach as a viable solution.

Day 2 – Opening Address by 7 Steering Countries

The second day of the conference kicked off with the opening addresses delivered by the Chairman of the seven steering committee associations. With the theme "Ushering in a Sustainable Future," the conference, hosted by the CPMA, invited esteemed guests to share their valuable insights.

Among the distinguished speakers were Hon. Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Chemicals and Fertilizers, and Hon. Minister Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Petroleum & Natural Gas.

Farewell Party – Next Host for APIC 2024

During the Farewell Party, the President of CPMA, India, presented a token to Dr. Mitchell Killeen, Chairman of the Korea Petrochemical Industry Association (KPIA), as a symbolic handover for hosting APIC 2024. The event marked the next step in continuing the tradition of APIC, with more details about APIC 2024 to be revealed soon.

APIC 2023 served as a significant milestone in the petrochemical industry, signalling the return of physical gatherings and rejuvenating the exchange of ideas and expertise among industry professionals. With an emphasis on sustainability and responsible growth, APIC 2023 shed light on the importance of adopting a circular economy approach. As the conference concluded, attendees eagerly anticipated the upcoming APIC 2024, which will be hosted by the Korea Petrochemical Industry Association (KPIA).
