Launch of SS 651: 2019 New Safety and Health Management System for the Chemical Industry

In today’s ever-changing business landscape, SS 651 provides chemical companies with a framework for managing safety and health (S&H) risk and prevent work-related injury and ill health to workers. Adapted to the needs of the chemical industry, SS 651 is an integration of SS ISO 45001 and SS 506 Part 3 process safety elements. SS 651 is intended to help chemical companies, regardless of its size, in establishing an S&H management system to proactively eliminate hazards, minimize risk and improve S&H performance. Highlights of SS 651 will be presented by the Working Group experts, who developed this new standard.

Alignment to SS 651 would imply compliance to both SS 506 Part 3 and SS ISO 45001 requirements. As SS 651 will be superseding SS 506 Part 3 in a few years’ time, information on this transition period such as accreditation and surveillance needs will be explained in detail during this event.

MOM will be referencing this revised standard on safety and health management system under its Approved Code of Practice (ACOP).
