Nanotechnology Awareness Workshop - ISO/TR 20489 Preparation of water samples for Analysis of Metal & Metal-oxide Nano-objects

(Presentation for downloading)

Title          : Nanotechnology Awareness Workshop - ISO/TR 20489 - Preparation of water samples for            Analysis of Metal & Metal-oxide Nano-objects

Date        : 21 Aug 2019 (Wednesday)

Time        : 1400 hours to 1700 hours (Registration starts at 1330 hours)

     Venue     : SCIC Training Room
         Singapore Chemical Industry Council Limited,
8 Jurong Town Hall Road, #25-04,
         The JTC Summit, Singapore 609434

This workshop aims to create awareness on the Singapore-led work item on ISO/TR 20489 Sample preparation for the characterization of metal and metal-oxide nano-objects in water samples which have been completed in Dec 2018. ISO TR 20489 is important in the preparation steps required prior to analysis of water samples, obtained before or after industry or laboratory processes. An overview of the analytical methods used after ISO TR 20489 are also provided. ISO TR 20489 would be important with to the increasing use of nanotechnology applications in the industry.

This workshop will benefit industries involved in nanotechnology applications, private and government laboratories, water and water technology industries, research institutes, IHLs, regulatory bodies and conformity assessment bodies.

Brief Programme:

-- Introduction to Singapore’s Participation in ISO/TC 229 Nanotechnologies Standardisation
-- The need of sample preparation for characterisation of metal and metal-oxide nano-objects in water       samples
-- Overview on ISO TR 20489 Sample preparation for the characterization of metal and metal-oxide          nano-objects in water samples
-- The next step after sample preparation
-- Dosimetry Considerations in Nanotoxicology Assessment
-- Risk assessment and implications relating to nano objects

Seats are limited and would be on first-come-first serve basis.
