Nanotechnology Awareness: Nanometrology Standards - preparation of SDS for nano-materials

This Nanotechnology Metrology workshop is to create awareness of ISO standards on nano-materials and address possible challenges involved in the preparation of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for nano-materials. This workshop will benefit users, industries handling nano-material such as oil and gas, paint, coating industry, specialty chemicals, aerospace.

Brief Programme:

-- Introduction to Singapore’s Participation in ISO/TC 229 Nanotechnologies Standardisation

-- SDS of nano-materials; Overview of ISO standards and overseas regulations, practices and challenges

-- Defining nano-materials for SDS preparation: -

      - Update on ISO standards for ‘Characterization and Measurement of nano-objects for size and shape’
       - Determination of nanoparticle size by X-Ray photoelectron Spectroscopy

-- Preparation of SDS for nanomaterials (industry perspective)

-- Challenges in the preparation of SDS for Graphene flakes (Case study) (Industry perspective)

-- Upcoming ISO standards on electron microscopy to address challenges in the identification of morphology of nanomaterials.
